The Utillian 420 vaporizer is super portable, measuring just 11cm x  5cm x 2cm deep.  It is the smallest of the Utillian products and fits neatly into a pocket or bag.  The size of the 420 is pretty similar to many e-cig devices, so nobody will be the wiser if you happen to be seen using the device.

How to Use The Utilian 420

Loading the Utillian 420 vaporizer is a snap!  Just unscrew the glass mouthpiece to reveal the heating chamber, load some freshly ground herb, and gently pack it down.  The 420 is not a convective unit, but is conductive,  so packing the botanical slightly will provide the best results.

Like all Utillian vaporizers,  the Utillian 420 has only a single button to operate the unit…simple is good!  Pressing the button five times quickly turn the device on, and the display at the top will show the battery charge level.  Next, the display will show the pre-set temperature setting you last used, and then the device will begin to heat up, showing its progress.

To change the temperature, just press and hold the power button for about 3 seconds;  the display will advance to the next pre-set temperature and begin heating.  Using this same process toggles through all 4 of the available temperature settings.

The Utillian 420 vaporizer features 4 pre-set temperatures: 190C, 200C, 210C, 220C.

Even tough the 420 doesn’t have infinitely variable temperature control, we find that these 4 temperatures were more than enough to satisfy our vaping needs,  and think this device works really well when you start at the lowest temperature and increase the temperature as vapor quality starts to fall off.

Vapor Quality

We didn’t expect great vapor quality form the Utillian 420 at such a low price, but we were pleasantly surprised!

The Utillian 420 vaporizer vapor flavour is excellent, especially at the lower temperature settings.  Smooth and fairly rich!  The glass mouthpiece is really nice and imparts no foreign flavour to the the herb.

At higher temperatures, you get some pretty serious density to the cloud,  without experiencing too much heat or throat irritation.

What We Like About the Utilian 420

We expect quality construction from Utillian, and the 420 does not disappoint.  The 420 is very well fabricated especially considering the price;  it features a good-looking, durable anodized aluminum shell, finished with its glass mouthpiece. It is a much better quality unit that others at a similar price point, which often have plastic casings.

At this price, you are not going to get the kind of heating performance and battery life that you see with the Utillian 720, but for such a small and in expensive unit,  the Utillian 420 boasts a pretty impressive battery life, lasting about  an hour with a full charge.  Considering a typical session lasts about 12 minutes,  this will get you roughly 4 – 5 sessions out of the 420 on a single charge.  For the average user,  the battery should hold out for a good day’s worth of vaping.  Folks that only use their vaporizer a couple of times per day should get a few days before they have to recharge the 420.  More frequent users will probably to charge the device more often, but with the micro-USB charging cable, it’s pretty easy to find a suitable charging source to do the trick (mine is plugged into my laptop as I write this!).

For such a budget friendly device, we could not be happier with what the Utillian 420 has to offer, giving customers worthwhile features like a digital display and glass mouthpiece, which are usually reserved for higher priced units.

Vapor quality is easily the best for the price point with 4 calibrated pre-set temperatures for vaporization and the included glass mouthpiece to help preserve flavor and provide smooth vapor.
