Crafty Vaporizer with Convection Heating

The key to the performance of the Crafty vaporizer is its patented heat exchanger. The large heat exchanger delivers hot air convection heating combined with conduction heating to deliver a very stable air temperature for accurate, uniform heat that produces even and flavorful vaporization.

The Crafty works with aromatic blends as well as essential oils using the liquid pad.  The mouthpiece includes an integrate cooling unit ensuring that the Crafty delivers a smooth, cool, and flavorful vapor quality.The Crafty is a pocket-friendly unit measuring 4.30 x 2.2 x 1.3 inches (10.9 x 5.6 x 3.3 cm) and having a weight of 5 ounces (0.14 kg).

The Crafty will provide 60-90 minutes of vaporization on a full charge, and can be used while the unit is charging. Battery life is preserved by a 60 second auto shut-off timer. Using the Crafty within this time (or pressing a button) will reset the shut-off  timer.

The Crafty vaporizer comes with a 2 year manufacturer’s warranty against defect.The Crafty herb vape features an easy to use one button control. Press the power button once and the Crafty will heat up to 356°F (180° C) or twice for 383° (195° C) and more robust vapor. These temperatures can be changed via the Crafty Remote Control App so that you can save your favorite two temperature settings between 40-210° C.

The Crafty can be controlled by your iPhone or Android device for a fully individual vapor experience. The Crafty Remote Control App allows you to adjust the Basic and Booster temperatures, check the battery level, control the vibration feature and adjust the light levels on the unit.

The Crafty Remote Control App is available for free at the iPhone App Store and at the Google Play store. The App will work with the iPhone and Android devices.

The Crafty vaporizer runs on 100-240 V power and will work anywhere in the world. We sell the version with a North American charger. If you live elsewhere, you only need a plug adapter or the unit can be charged via micro USB , the Crafty is easy to charge anywhere. Storz & Bickel recommends only using the official Storz & Bickel charger.

Setting Up Your Crafty Vaporizer

The Crafty vaporizer is one of the first portable vaporizer offerings along with the Mighty manufactured by Storz and Bickel, the makers of the world-famous Volcano Vaporizer.

As with any new vaporizer product, you are going to want to sterilize the device first. To do this, press and hold the power button to turn the device on, then double press the power button in order to set the unit into its booster temperature setting. Next, press the power button roughly every 45 seconds to keep the device heated. You want to keep the device powered and Now you are ready to go!

To load your Crafty vaporizer, twist off the top to expose the heating chamber. Then, take your herb and fill the heating chamber to the top. If you want to use less material, that’s fine too. Just use the aroma pad to fill up the rest of the space in the chamber. Once you’re loaded, place the top back on the unit and twist into place to lock it.

How to use your Crafty Vaporizer

The Crafty vaporizer starts with a default basic temperature of 180°C. The default booster temperature is 195°C, and both of these temperature settings can be customised by the user to suit their own personal tastes using the Crafty app. Download the App, install on your smartphone and connect your Crafty. You can set your temperature anywhere between 40°C and 210°C.

We put the Crafty vaporizer through its paces and found does a great job vaporizing our herbs between 190°C and 210°C. For extracts we suggest turning it up to max power at 210°C for great vapor.

Once your Crafty vaporizer is locked and loaded, press and hold power button to turn the device on. When it’s powered up, you can double press the power button to bring the device into its booster temperature setting. Once your Crafty has reached temperature you will be notified with a short double vibration. Twist out the mouthpiece and take a deep draw to start enjoying your vapor.The Crafty does have a 60 second shut-off to conserve battery power You may need to press the power button every 45 seconds or so to keep the unit on.

Living With the Crafty Vaporizer

The Crafty is a portable hybrid convection vaporizer made by the German company Storz and Bickel. One of the features we like is that you can control your Crafty via an APP available for most android / iPhone devices.

The Crafty has around a two minute heat up time to get to 365°F which isn’t the fastest. The device will vibrate when temperature is reached. We did find the temperature to be more consistent with aggressive or long draws start to finish which is great for lovers of big clouds.

Chamber size &, Packing

The Crafty’s chamber holds around 0.25 grams of dry herb. You can pack a little more in there with a really fine grind, but if you over-pack the chamber it will increase the draw resistance.
I we really like the consistency of the Crafty vape. You can pack it loose, tight, half-pack, full-pack and get the same awesome results every time. A lot of vaporizers only work well with full chambers, so this is a great feature for those who like to pack smaller loads.

The cooling unit on top of the chamber does an excellent job of cooling down the vapor before it hits your lungs, we think the Crafty has the smoothest and coolest vapor of any session vape of this size.

Battery Life & Charging Options

The Crafty utilizes one lithium-ion internal rechargeable battery which provides around 45 minutes of continuous use or around 4 sessions. The Crafty takes about 2 hours to fully charge and allows partial pass-through charging so you can keep on vaping (you need to let the battery go down to 20 percent battery life first).

Although the battery life on the Crafty is not the best, it more than makes up for it with vape quality and its stealthy size. The Crafty’s USB charging system allows you to charge it pretty much anywhere. We like packing an external battery pack to recharge the Crafty on the go.

Crafty vs Mighty Vaporizer

When comparing the Crafty to the Mighty, the biggest differences are size and battery life. The Mighty will preheat a bit quicker, and hold its temperature better in colder environments like when you are skiing. The Mighty is also more reliable for heavier users. If you like to vape more than 5 bowls a day, the Mighty is a more robust unit. The choice comes down to portability for us. Personally, we prefer the Crafty for the size, the smartphone app (way cool), and the USB charging option.  No matter what you decide, you will not be disappointed by either vaporizer.
